I was originally looking for the Loreal HIP Creme Shadow Paint in Secretive since they were having their buy 1 get 1 half off sale, but they don't carry their Creme Shadow Paint line (weird huh?). I only realized that Rite Aid does not carry it at all after I went to 3 different locations and they were no where to be found. Just so that I felt like my time wasn't a complete waste I bought Jesse's Girl Eye Dusts and immediately fell in love with them. I figured since I didn't have a local store that carried the NYX Loose Pearl Pigments, I should give these a try. I immediately fell in love. The colors are super duper pigmented! The only problem that I find with the Eye Dusts are that they do not have color names or numbers. Their website shows names for them but they are not labeled on their packaging in Rite Aid. They are finely milled flour like consistency just like how most people describe the consistency of the NYX Loose Pearl Pigments. I can't say for sure that they are the same consistency since I don't own any NYX Pearl Pigments.

Swatches were applied dry without base. Notice that there are only 9 colors swatched but I have 10 eye dusts. The top 2 on the left are the same. I went back to Rite Aid the following day but this time the one near my job and since I didn't know the color names of the ones that I already bought I ended up doubling up on the the top two :(! No biggie I could have returned it but I knew I'd make use of it anyway. I also found that applying them with a base or even a mixing medium makes the eye dusts stay longer and bring out the color even more.

Jesse's Girl Eye Dust Price ($3.99 USD)
Packaging: 3 out of 5 (3.5 grams Net Wgt.)
Product: 4 out of 5
Quality: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

Joanne's Everyday Look

Face:
*Avon Matte Chance Moisturizer
*Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
*Avon Mineral Foundation in Bisque (it's actually a bit dark for me. It changes every now and then and by that I mean whenever I buy new neutral makeup I change my everyday look...I love NYX Cosmetics! You can find them at your local drug store or even ulta. I usually get me stash from Longs Drugs, but I also see them at Ulta. I even stopped by the Petaluma Outlets in Cali and the Fragrance Outlet Store carried a whole section of NYX Cosmetics!! Really great quality makeup. Very pigmented eyeshadows (e/s) and lovely lippies. I store my NYX eyeshadows in my MAC 15 e/s pallet. I'll post a picture of it sometime later. As you can see I own mostly MAC brushes but you
can also use paint brushes like my sister does. More expensive doesn't
necessarily mean better quality. My collection started out really
small with one of the brush sets from the MAC Tailormade collection
which was a Nordstrom exclusive. In addition to those brushes I got a
brush set from Costco from my mom the brand was Hanna K but I got rid
of those. From what I remember the face brushes were scratchy but the
eye brushes were decent. Once I really got into doing make up I
started to invest in full sized brushes and accumulated these brushes
over time.

(top to bottom: 182,187,190,217)
182: This brush is one of my favorite brushes that I own. I use this
brush to buff on my MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural powder or my
Lancome Dual Finish powder depending on what I feel like that day. It
is densley packed and really soft and
creates a flawless finish on my face. When compared to my Benefit
kabuki brush (not pictured) I don't get the same effect.
187: Another one of my favorite face brushes. I use the 187 to apply
my moisturizer as well as my liquid foundation MAC Studio Fix Fluid.
The duo fibre brush allows for a light application and blends
foundation in to my face for a completly natural airbrushed look. And
you don't use as much product with this brush. It's a must have!
190: I used to use this brush for foundation until I got the 187. I
felt like I was using too much foundation and painting it on. Instead
I use this to apply my primer Smashbox Photofinish Light.
217: Okay so this isn't a face brush its actually an an eye brush. But
I use this brush to apply and blend my concealer MAC Studio Finish
concealer for my face and MAC Select Moisturecover for my under eye.

2nd pic face brushes (color)
(168,187,188,129)
168: This angled brush I use to apply my contour color either MAC
blush in Strada, MAC sculpt powder in Bone Beige, or MAC blushcreme in
Cherce. I also use this to apply my bronzer Too Faced Carribean in a
Compact in Sun Bunny. It packs on the color lightly and blends nicely
as well.
187: Yes I have two 187 brushes one for my foundation and one for my
blushes/mineralize skinfinishes (MSF).
I usually use the 187 for my MSFs or my highly pigmented blushes for a
light application. I also sometimes use it to buff my blush out if I
used to much.
188: Pretty much the same as the 187 just a smaller version. I like to
use this to apply my highlight color.
129: The size of this brush is perfect for applying color to the
apples of my cheeks.

3rd pic eye brushes (short handle)
(top to bottom: Sephora bent brush,212 SE, 239 SE, 316 SE, 219 SE, 266
SE, and Sephora angled brush)
I don't really use these brushes that often since I got the full sized
versions. But I do use the 219 SE to apply a highlight color to the
inner corners of my eye. I also use the 239 SE when my full sized one
gets really dirty and I don't clean it. Which is bad I know but I try
to clean them lightly at least once a week and deep clean them once a
month.

4th pic eye brushes
(from L to R 227,224,222,217,272)
227: A great brush to apply highlight color to the brow bone or a
sheer wash of color over the lid. Also blends away any harsh lines.
224: A blending brush that I use for a soft wash of color in the
crease. It gives a nice airbrushed look to eyeshadow and blends
nicely.
222: Another blending brush that I use for a defined but blended
crease. I reach for this one more than my 224.
217: Yes I also have two 217 brushes. I use this one for that smokey
dark color on the outer V for some looks. Also good for blending lid
colors.
272: An angled eyeshadow brush the eye brush equivalent of the 168
face brush. I use this to really pack on color on the outer V and the
crease.

5th pic eye brush
(252, 239,242)
252: I used to use this paddle brush to apply eyeshadow to my lid
before I got my 239. Now I use it to apply my pigments and my
Mineralized Eyeshadows (MES) wet or dry.
239: One of my brush staples I use this brush to apply color to my
lids and blend on my lazy make up days. It really packs on the color
loves it!
242: I use this brush to apply my paintpots its great for emollient
based products.

6th eye brush
(213,219,208,266,209, some random sephora brush)
213: I don't use this brush that often other that to apply a light
wash of color to the lid.
219: I use this to for precise application of eyeshadow to the lid
especially in looks where I use multiple colors.
208: Another angled brush I use to fill in my eyebrows.
266: My other angled brush I use for eyeliner usually MAC fluidline in
blacktrack or graphic brown (LE with Amuse collection). And I also use
it to apply eyeshadow to my lower lash line.
209: I hate the brush that come with MAC liquidlast liners so I use
this instead. I also use this to apply a nice thin line of fluidline
it allows me to get as close to the lashline as possible for a more
natural look.

Whoa that was long and tideous but hopefully that gives you some idea
of what brushes to use for what application. Next post my first Face
of the Day ( FOTD).

Joanne's Brush Collection

My very first official makeup related post!!! YAY ME! Sorry I just finished watching "Suite Life of Zack and Cody" on Disney channel with my daughter. If you've ever seen this show you'll know why. So I thought I'd start this blog off with my current makeup obsession which are my brushes!! Let's get started...

So here's a collective picture of all my brushes so far. The left vase holds all my face brushes and the right vase holds all my eye brushes. I got the inspiration from Youtube's Enkoremakeup video of "Sephora inspired brush holder."

Here is my Lowe Cornell brushes courtesy of Michaels Arts and Crafts. The Coastal Scents paddle brush is a bit scratchy which I also rarely use.

More face brushes from Top: Mac 187, Mary Kay Blush Brush, Costco Buffer Brush, MAC 190SE, MAC 168SE

Eye brushes from Top: Costco Smudger, #4 Royal soft-grip 850 Fan Brush, Costco Crease brush, Costco lip brush (i actually use it to put eyeshadow on my lower lashline rather than a lip brush), Bare Essentials Buffer eyeshadow brush.

Eyeshadow brushes from top: Costco Blending brush, Bare Essentials full tapered shadow with pink handle, Bare Essentials full tapered shadow with black handle (I actually got all my Bare Essential brushes from my co-worker who would buy their sets that always came with the eyeshadow brushes THANKS LYNNE!), Coastal Scents Large Chisel Fluff, Coastal Scents Pink Oval fluff shadow brush, MAC 252, MAC 252SE

More Shadow Brushes from TOP: MAC 217, MAC 263, Coastal Scents Mini Contour brush, MAC 219, and Coastal Scents Angled Fluff brush

Lastly from top: Mary Kay Crease brush, Costco Angled Fluff brush, Mary Kay Shadow Brush, Mary Kay Eyebrow brush (this is actualy a double ended brush. other end of this eyebrow brush is the eyeliner brush which I never use)

Well that is my brush collection. I am so excited to be starting this blog. I have been inspired by Vanessa of http://nessasarymakeup.com/ to renew my love for makeup. I don't remember exactly what I was looking for specifically on google one day at work, but I stumbled upon her blog about 2 months ago and I've been hooked ever since!! I am not a makeup artist nor a pro at makeup at all. I am here to share all the makeup techniques that I have learned, review beauty products and what not. I used to be really into MAC back in 2001-2003 but then I had my daughter and makeup wasn't that important to me. Now that my daughter is 5 yrs. old, I have a lot more time for myself...hence the recent re-discovery of makeup. Keep posted...my next post will be about my brushes (my current obsession).
.
Camille: Hello my fellow beauty addicts. I've been wanting to start a blog but have been pretty lazy about starting one till my sister said she started one. So we decided to start a beauty blog together. I've been obsessed with make-up since i was little girl. It wasn't until i finally got a job that i've been able to feed my make-up addiction. I am fan of MAC which makes up most of my make up collection as well as Makeup Forever,Benefit,Dior,Tarte, Urban Decay, and Too Faced, just to name a few. My sister and i have two different styles, as you will see as our blog expands. Hope you all enjoy...please feel free to add your comments, questions, ideas, and requests...or just to say a friendly hello!
